What Is Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating)?

Hyperhidrosis is a condition that results in excessive sweating. This condition can occur in unusual conditions or situations, such as cooler weather or without any reason at all. It affects many people’s lives and is very uncomfortable.

Sweating can have an effect on your confidence, as you may feel uncomfortable in crowds or groups of people when you have underarm sweat patches. At Beau-Tox-Bar, Botulinum Toxin Type A in the underarm region is available for excessive sweating and can help you regain your confidence.

What Causes Excessive Sweating?

The natural way for your body to cool itself is to release sweat from your sweat glands. So your nervous system automatically triggers your sweat glands when your body temperature rises. Or if you are nervous, palm sweating may occur.

There are two common types of Hyperhidrosis, these include; Primary Focal Hyperhidrosis and Secondary Generalized Hyperhidrosis. The most common type is Primary Focal Hyperhidrosis.

With this type, the nerves that are responsible for signalling your sweat glands become over active, even if they haven’t been triggered by an increase in activity or higher temperatures.  And when you are nervous or stressed this can make it even worse.

There may not be a medical cause for this type of Hyperhidrosis, but it may be linked to a hereditary component, as it runs through families.

Secondary hyperhidrosis occurs when excess sweating is due to a medical condition. This is not as common as the primary Hyperhidrosis, but this type may lead to sweating all over your body. Medical conditions that trigger Hyperhidrosis include;

Diabetes

Menopause hot flashes

Thyroid problems

Low blood sugar

Some types of cancer

Heart attack

Nervous system disorders

Infections

What Are The Symptoms Of Hyperhidrosis?

Normal sweating occurs when you exercise and exert yourself physically, are in a hot environment, or are anxious or under stress. And people who experience Hyperhidrosis know that it far exceeds such normal sweating.

It usually affects the hands, feet, underarms or face. It can have the following effects on your life

Sweating disrupts your daily routine

Sweating causes emotional distress or social withdrawal

You suddenly begin to sweat more than usual

You experience night sweats for no apparent reason

Treating Hyperhidrosis With Botox?

Botox can be used to treat excessive sweating of the armpits, hands, feet, head and face (craniofacial), and other relatively small body areas (like under the breasts) with Botulinum Toxin Type A, which is safe and effective.

Using this to treat underarm sweating can begin to see results approximately within 2-4 days after treatment. And can last from 4-12 moths and some cases have been seen to last 14 months. After that recurring treatments will need to be done to last longer.
